Agnus Dai is Latin for "Gods lamb". It tells us that the symbolism obviously is Christian. Agnus Dei usually consists of 3 pendants underneath a circular brooch which again is attached to a long chain. It is supposed to give a picture of the Holy Trinity. Some of the varieties have a coin for the center piece. This most likely gave the origin of the Norwegian name of this brooch; Dalar. Dalar was the old currency in Norway.
